The classic point in Lima. On its best days, the left-running waves can reach 5 meters in height. It is split into three sections, the one nearest the coast being the most tubular and the most difficult. It is an oft-visited beach, where on a nice day there will be 100 surfers (a major additional difficulty if one takes into account each series only brings five waves). Experienced surfers only.
If willing to practice surfing in Peru you should follow these recommendations:
- Never surf alone.
- Keep beaches clean by taking your refuse with you, and do not disturb the marine wildlife that shares the sea with the visitors (dolphins, sea lions and seagulls).
- Check for the presence of undertowns as well as reefs and rocks on the sea bottom.
- In addition, remember that, depending on the area, in March or April (around Easter Week), tides tend to rise and the waves swell, increasing the risk.
