The excursion starts in Aguas Calientes, along a steep way, with many stair-ways (the longest one has 178 steps carved into the rock) and ramps, which have been restored recently.
One is surrounded by lush vegetation and upon arrival to the top of the mountain, the magnificent view is impressive and compensates the great effort of climbing to the top. Climb a steep rustic wooden stairway nailed to the rock with an almost vertical ascent amid cloud forest vegetation, an adventure not suitable for those who fear highs.
The view of the mountain is magnificent, crowned with a panoramic view of the Machu Picchu remains and at your feet the village of Aguas Calientes and the Mandor Valley.
