The Allpahuayo Mishana Reserved Zone was established on March 2, 1999 through law (D.S.) Nº 006-99-AG. It is located in the department of Loreto, province of Maynas and has a surface of 57,667 hectares. It has very important ecosystems such as the river Nanay which provides water for the city of Iquitos.

Thanks to its location -very close to Iquitos- the tourism has grown in the last years.
