The Canal Nuevo Imperial Protection Forest was established on May 19, 1980, through Law (R.S.) N 0007-80-AA-DGFF. It is located in the department of Lima, province of Cañete, district of Nuevo Imperial and has a surface of 18,11 hectares.
Main goal of the Canal Nuevo Imperial Protection Forest is to protect and preserve the river Cañete in order to provide water with agricultural purposes as this region provides vegetables to the city of Lima.
